John Odum, founder of Cuesta Polygraph, has over 30 years of criminal and civil investigation experience. John has conducted polygraph exams for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, as well as for sexual offender treatment providers and attorneys. He is certified by the American Polygraph Association (APA), California Association of Polygraph Examiners (CAPE) and the American Association of Police Polygraphists (AAPP).

John is a retired California Police Officer. In addition, he spent over 15 years as a corporate investigator where he handled cases involving theft, embezzlement, fraud, sexual harassment and workplace violence.

John is a Director on the Board of the National Polygraph Association. In 2014, John served on the California State Attorney General’s Office Polygraph Standards Working Group. He also served as the Chair of the Law and Justice Committee for the San Luis Obispo County Grand Jury.

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He is currently an instructor at Marston Polygraph Academy. He is also a guest lecturer at numerous schools and organizations including the State of California Department of Mental Health and the California Association of Private Investigators. He has completed advanced training in forensic interviewing and investigation.

Polygraph examinations are conducted using only validated techniques with the highest rates of reliability and validity in accordance with current guidelines established by the American Polygraph Association.
